2025 AES International Conference on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

The inaugural AES Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility will bring together a diverse community of academics, audio professionals, industry veterans, and advocates dedicated to advancing these values in the audio industry and beyond. By convening experts committed to fostering equity and inclusivity, this conference offers a unique platform for exploring and elevating critical discussions on gender equity, access, representation, and the participation of underrepresented and marginalized groups in audio and related fields. This gathering aims to inspire meaningful change, promote cross-disciplinary collaboration, and amplify the voices and contributions of those driving progress toward a more inclusive future in audio.
Submission Guidelines
The Audio Engineering Society is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the audio community. We encourage submissions to AES events from all audio professionals. We welcome diverse genres, embrace emergent audio fields and research, and strive to radiate inclusiveness to all.

Presentation Types: Paper and Poster
Abstract/Precis (Category 2) Authors are asked to submit an extended summary of 300-750 words by December 29, 2024. These proposals will be reviewed by at least two experts in the field and the authors will be notified of acceptance by January 18, 2025. The complete paper will not be peer reviewed. Final manuscripts of 4-8 pages have to be submitted before March 15, 2025.

Publication Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. The papers will be published in the AES E-Library no earlier than 10 days before the conference starts.

Presentation Types: Workshop, Tutorial, Demonstration and Panel Discussion
The Audio Engineering Society (AES) invites submissions for workshops that address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the field of audio engineering. This may include various subfields within the AES such as instrument design, artificial intelligence, DSP, etc.
We are seeking professionals, community stakeholders, nonprofits, students, and more to participate in workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, and panel discussions. These sessions aim to cover a range of topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field. Topics may include educational practices, workplace inclusion and compensation, accessibility, historical and cultural perspectives, global perspectives, community work, tutorials and production techniques, allyship and advocacy, mentorship, neurodiversity, mental health in audio careers, historical erasure, cultural appropriation and ethics in sound production, and anything else that is relevant to DEI. Workshops can be interactive. We are particularly interested in sessions that encourage dialogue and collaboration among participants.
Proposals should include a title (3 words or less if possible), presenter(s)/panel members, an abstract (no more than 500 words; 3995 characters), a list of at least three keywords to specify your topic, preferred format (workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, and panel discussions), and a list of topics and technical requirements (sound requirements during the presentation, such as stereo, multichannel, etc.).The deadline for workshop submissions is December 29, 2024. Notifications regarding acceptance will be sent no later than January 18, 2025.

Registration Requirements Peer Reviewed and Extended Summary Papers Papers may be submitted by a single author or a group of authors. For each paper, a single “presenting author” is designated on the paper submission website – usually the person who will present the paper at the Conference. The presenting author will be required to pay a Presenting Author Fee at the following applicable rate:
- AES members (Life member/Fellow/Member/Associate categories): $265
- AES student members: $150
- Non-AES members: $390
These amounts are required payment for all Presenting Authors. No additional registration fee will be required. Presenting Authors payment instructions will be sent out with the acceptance information.
Authors presenting more than one paper are only required to pay one Presenting Author Fee.
Co-authors of a paper are welcome, and encouraged, to attend but should register via the public registration website.
Workshops/Tutorials All Workshop presenters are required to pay a conference registration fee at the following applicable rate:
- AES members (Life member/Fellow/ Member/Associate categories): $175
- AES student members: $150
- Non-AES members: $300
