27th INFER Annual Conference will be in Rome (Sapienza Università di Roma) between 10th and 12th September 2025
The Department of Economics and Law of the University of Rome Sapienza and the International Network for Economic Research (INFER) jointly organise the 27th INFER Annual Conference.
INFER is a non-profit organisation supporting research in all areas of economics. It has been established in Germany and has members from all continents. Researchers and practitioners from all fields of economics are welcomed as INFER members. Universities or research centres can join INFER as institutional members. INFER also aims to become a dissemination partner for large research projects (http://www.infer-research.eu/).
The Annual Conference gathers economists to present and discuss their work on the cutting edge of theoretical and empirical research, to promote the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of results.

Submission Guidelines
Only full papers may be submitted for the Annual Conference.
Papers must be in English and include an abstract of up to 500 words, 5 keywords, JEL classification and contact details for the corresponding author.
Papers should be submitted electronically as pdf-files to the Annual Conference organizers via Easy Chair. To submit your full paper, please follow these steps:

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed according to a high-quality and fast referee process. Paper presenters are expected to discuss one other paper during the Conference. The discussant assignments will be notified at a later stage. As the Conference intends to strengthen the INFER network, participation is welcome even without paper contribution.

Special Sessions
The Conference will host Special Sessions focusing on various topics. These sessions may be organised by INFER scholars as well as by other Conference attendees who submit their proposals to the Organizing Committee. Special Sessions will have discussants distributed among presenters of the same session.
The deadline for the proposal of Special Sessions is February 28th, 2025. You can drop a line with your proposal to inferacinfo@gmail.com.
A Special Session will be designed for PhD students. The INFER Annual Conference encourages the engagement of PhD students with the activities of the network, offering the possibility to present (incomplete) papers with their research proposals or preliminary drafts of one of their PhD essays. The idea is to encourage discussion and receive valuable feedback from a panel of professors and experts. Authors should select the option "PhD student" during submission.
Publication Opportunities
The Conference offers publication opportunities to the authors of high-quality research papers. More details will come as available. The last INFER publications include Special Issues in Macroeconomic Dynamics, World Economy, Journal of International Money and Finance, International Economics, International Economics and Economic Policy.
INFER Prizes and Awards
INFER Young Economist Award, INFER Research Award, INFER Policy Research Award, INFER PhD Paper Award. Each award includes a prize of 1000 €.

Registration Fees
INFER members: 300 EUR
Non-INFER members: 350 EUR
The registration fee includes all lunches, coffee breaks and social events. Each presenter is allowed to deliver a maximum of two presentations. It does not include travel and accommodation expenses. Registration fees are non-refundable. Registrations cancelled due to VISA issues are eligible for a 50% refund only if they are notified at least 30 days before the Conference. Registrations cancelled after that date are no longer eligible for a refund.
All participants have to register for the Conference. Please note that the paper submission is not considered as registration.
Registration can be made through the INFER website (https://infer-research.eu/events/27th-infer-annual-conference/) and payment can be made through PayPal on the website. You can use the same website to become an INFER member. The annual membership fee for individuals is EUR 40 per year and is valid for the current calendar year. If you have any technical questions regarding the registration, please contact treasurer@infer.info.
The conference's official language is English.
Speakers will not be able to present remotely. The event will only take place in person.
We would like to inform you that we cannot provide VISA invitation letter, unless a registration fee is paid.
We feel sorry to inform you that we do not provide any funding opportunities.
Venue
The Conference will be held at the Faculty of Economics, Sapienza University of Rome (https://economia.web.uniroma1.it/en).
The Faculty of Economics is situated near Termini Central Station, in Via del Castro Laurenziano 9, and is well-served by local public transport.
Gala Dinner
There will be a gala dinner. The location will be communicated later. The cost of the gala dinner is included in the submission fee.
Accommodation
Please note that September is a very high season in Rome and 2025 is the Jubilee year. It is highly recommended that you book your hotel at the earliest.
Conference participants are eligible for special fares from the Best Western Hotel (www.globushotel.com) and Domus Castrense (www.domuscastrenserome.com), subject to room availability. The hotels are within walking distance from the Conference venue. You must specify the INFER Conference when booking via e-mail (info@globushotel.com; domuscastrense@gmail.com) to take advantage of the fares.
Travel Information
You can reach Rome city centre from Leonardo da Vinci Airport and Ciampino Airport by public transportation:
(i) From “LEONARDO DA VINCI” AIRPORT
- The Leonardo Express: direct train to Termini Central Station every 30 minutes; distance covered in 30 minutes. Ticket: 14€, to be validated before stepping on the train.
- FM1 regional railway: from the airport to the major train stations of Roma Ostiense, Roma Tuscolana and Roma Tiburtina. Ticket: 8.00€ to be validated before stepping on the train.
(ii) From “CIAMPINO” AIRPORT
SIT bus and Terravision Shuttle Bus. Tickets: 6€. Distance is covered in 30-45 minutes, depending on urban traffic. Tickets can be purchased either online or onboard.
