The 53nd International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering (CIE53) aims to disseminate recent theoretical and methodological developments, significant technical applications, case studies, and survey results in the areas of computers, industrial engineering, and related disciplines.

This conference is the latest in the series sponsored by Computers & Industrial Engineering: An International Journal, published by Elsevier. The journal's Impact Factor was 6.5 in 2025, and its Cite Score was 13.2 for the same year, placing it at the 96th percentile among general engineering journals (Q1 per the Web of Science and ABDC ranking ‘A’).

The 2026 edition will focus on the theme: 

“From Data to Policy: Transforming Systems for Sustainability.”

CIE53 aims to bring together leading scholars and practitioners to discuss state-of-the-art advancements in industrial engineering, supply chain management, operations management, computer science, manufacturing, and management sciences. It provides a platform for researchers, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, and industrial experts to exchange results and experiences across theory, applications, and tools.

The conference will feature world-class keynote speakers, scientific sessions, and networking opportunities, offering a unique opportunity to build collaborations and engage with peers from across the globe. Set against the dynamic backdrop of Abu Dhabi, participants will experience both intellectual inspiration and the city’s renowned blend of tradition, innovation, and hospitality.

Submission Guidelines

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following submissions are welcome at the same registration rate:

• Full papers (maximum 10 pages, including references and appendices) will be reviewed for both presentation and publication in the conference proceedings. Only PDF files will be accepted.
• Abstract-only submissions (200–300 words) will be reviewed for presentation but will not be published in the proceedings.

All submissions must be made through EasyChair. Authors are invited to submit original work not under review elsewhere. Submissions must be written in English. Submission templates are available on the conference website:

Publication

CIE53 proceedings will be published, indexed in Scopus, and assigned a dedicated DOI. Only accepted and presented full papers will appear in the proceedings, while accepted abstracts will be listed in the program. At least one author per accepted paper/abstract must register by the early-bird deadline.

A selection of high-quality presented full papers will be invited to submit extended versions to a special issue of Elsevier’s Computers & Industrial Engineering (C&IE) Journal (ISSN 0360-8352). Additional special issues will be announced on the conference website.

Venue

The conference will be hosted by the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi (UAE), between 20th and 23rd October 2026. It will take place at the main campus of Khalifa University, which is easily reachable from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airports.
