SCULPT @ SMI 2025
SCULPT 2025 will be organized as a part of SMI 2025. The conference program will include paper presentations, posters and show & tell exhibition. Presenters and attendees will be able to participate in the conference remotely with video/audio and slide sharing; there will also be on-site participation.
Call for Papers
The SCULPT track: “Shape Creation Using Layouts, Programs, & Technology” at Shape Modeling International Conference is focused on original research on the theory and practice of shape design, sculpting, and architecture. It includes the physical realization of the envisioned shapes via tentative mock-up constructions, sketching, computer-aided modeling, constructivist assembly of parts, or 3D-printing. The presented work may have an underlying algorithmic or mathematical basis, and it may also address the inverse process of obtaining a clean CAD model from a given physical artifact.Papers should clearly describe the way in which interesting geometrical shapes have been conceived, modeled, and optimized. Ideally, such papers should inspire readers to try to use similar approaches to create additional interesting shapes.
Topics
SCULPT solicits manuscripts that pose new questions and motivate further research in designing, fabrication, and sculpting. Topics should be useful, for example, in the following areas:
- Fabrication of digital models
- Advanced manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing, laser cutting or CNC milling
- Interactive or procedural design of manufacturable shapes
- Interconnections of complex modeling and fabrication processes
- Visually stimulating fabrication techniques or printed structures
Submissions
All manuscripts must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full Papers describing methods in detail with a limit of 16 pages with 30 minutes time slot for presentation and Q&A.
- Short Papers describing methods in less detail with a limit of 8 pages with 20 minutes time slot for presentation and Q&A.
- Posters describing methods in mush less detail with a limit of 4 pages with 15 minutes time slot for presentation and Q&A..
For all three categories, a deadline for initial abstract submission is provided to demonstrate the intention of submission a completed manuscript. Presentations can be in-person or remotely.
For the submission, please use The Bridges Formatting Guidelines
