Abstract

One of the symptoms of isolation failure is partial discharge activity. Partial discharge is one of the early indicators of insulation damage in electric power system equipment, especially in incoming cubicles. Where if partial discharge is not detected, it can cause equipment failure and disruption to the electric power system. The test method used to detect partial discharge is by measuring Transient Earth Voltage (TEV) using a special sensor mounted around the cubicle. This method can be used to detect and analyze the magnitude of partial discharge in gas-insulated electrical equipment (Gas Insulated Switchgear) or equipment that uses solid insulation. Based on the results of testing and analysis, it was found that the partial discharge test on the CT component was 17 dB with interpretation a, then for the cable section the measurement value obtained was 18 dB with interpretation b. For the Upper / Lower Busbar the measurement results were 31 dB with f interpretation, and the 20 kV PMT component was 34 dB with f interpretation. From the test results, it is found that the components indicated partial discharge are Upper / Lower Busbar equipment and PMT, where this can be caused by several things such as insulation damage to the cable, busbar, or equipment in the cubicle, there is dirt or contamination in the equipment, and the equipment experiences transient voltage which is caused by power changes or temporary disturbances in the cubicle.
