Clearly, they played a major role in all human societies for thousands of years, but they still face some fundamental challenges around storing, sharing, and accessing data along the network. Blockchain is a promising data management technology as various actors are connected through the network with efficiency, feasibility, and trust. However, like other new technologies, it has many hidden challenges related to timely information sharing, managing dynamic contexts, and scaling that require urgent attention. This study adopts the concept of absorptive capacity, as the theoretical lens, to investigate a blockchain based traceability network from a longitudinal perspective. This study contributes to the information system study by uncovered the loose connected relationship in traceability network, underpins the dynamics among the contextual changes, absorptive capacity evolvement, practices, and improves the understanding about absorptive capacity from the network perspective. Keyphrases: Blockchain, Traceability, Trustworthy Systems., absorptive capacity, food supply chain
