Abstract

Mineral exploration is evolving with remote sensing and satellite technology, drawing from Earth’s mineral deposits to enhance extraterrestrial prospecting. This approach aims at image correction and processing, offering an alternative to traditional, challenging methodologies. Remote sensing utilizes spectral, spatial, and temporal data to detect and analyze space minerals. Techniques like radiometric and geometric correction ensure image accuracy, while machine learning and algorithms like spectral angel mapping enhance mineral identification. High-resolution imaging systems, informed by the earth’s minerals, advance in recognizing similar compositions in space. Studying meteorites and integrating simulation with machine learning could further advance space mineral exploration.

Keyphrases: image correction, machine learning, mineral prospecting, remote sensing, spectral signature
