Task awareness arises from a reader’s task model, but what supports task model construction? Strategies that support comprehension (paraphrasing, bridging and elaborative inferences) may influence performance indirectly by supporting task model construction. The goal of this study was to explore the hypothesis that task awareness partially mediates the relationship between comprehension strategies and literacy outcomes.
