We start in first time to the literature and overview of ZnS materials and the common points with CdS thin films. Then we made simulations by SCAPS 1D Software to make sure if this material will respond as CdS buffer layer, speacelly in principal parameters: Thickness of the film and doping concentration with donors. Finally, Zinc Sulphide (ZnS) thin films were deposited on glass substrate by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method at room temperature (300 K). Zinc acetate and sodium Sulphide were used as cationic and anionic precursors for the films respectively. A study has been made for structural, surface morphological and optical properties of the film using X ray diffraction (XRD), EDX, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and optical absorption method (UV). The deposited ZnS thin films showed polycrystalline with cubic phase. The SEM images of the films showed that films were uniformly distributed in substrates and homogeneous and the optical band gap was estimated of 3.52 eV. Keyphrases: Buffer layer, SILAR, ZnS., band gap, thin films
