Dynamic formulation and collision detection can be more challenging when the mechanical system involves flexible bodies, as the geometric boundaries of such components keep changing during the simulation. The floating frame of reference(FFR) formulation is suitable for flexible systems with small deformation. This work provides a systematic dynamic formulation and time-stepping method for flexible systems with contact using the FFR formulation. In addition, a curve-based collision detection method that is more consistent with the dynamic formulation has been proposed, which can achieve accurate and efficient performance.
